Love, the bilateral search - 2
There are many factors that come into play when deciding to end your bilateral search. I feel that the most important factor should be the person's characteristics.Everyone has a list of traits they want their partners to have. This could be long, short, detailed, high-level, etc. I think it's important to have a list - you should always know what you want so that you can focus on your goal. Most of the things on my list (coming soon) would be similar to other people's. The key thing though, is to prioritise your list so that you know which traits are the 'must-haves', and which are merely 'desirables' (obvious IT correlation here :).
Must-haves I would describe as 'simply-cannot-live-without-traits-my-other-half-must-have'. As in, we cannot function together if he/she is not x, y, z. I'd say this list would include a sense of humour and practical common sense.
Desirables I would describe as 'it'd-be-good-if-he/she-had-this-but-I-can-live-without-it'. In my current list this would include dashing good looks :) It's a must-have that the person has decent looks, but movie-star-gorgeous I can live without.
